We come to you today with some more exclusive photos that help shed some light on what carriers the Bold 9780 will be coming to! Of course we know the device is GSM and we all assumed that it would be going to all the major GSM carriers, but to this point we’ve only seen leaked photos of the 9780 running on 3G bands 1, 4, and 8. (see picture below)
These bands are consistent primarily with T-Mobile (USA) and WIND Mobile, Mobilicity, Videotron (Canada). Also, band 8 is used in Europe, Asia, Oceania on carriers such as Optus and Vodafone. So while the it was a foregone conclusion that the 9780 would be coming to those carriers, many asked “What about the other major North American carriers?”
As you can see from the above photo this version of the next generation Bold came preloaded with the AT&T standard background. Not only that, but a quick look at this device’s about screen shows that it is running on different 3G bands than all the previous 9780’s that we’ve seen (Bands 1, 2, 5, 6)!
This is significant because the bands referenced in this photo are consistent with those used by major North America carriers such as AT&T, Bell Mobility, Telus, and Rogers. Also worth noting is that band 6 is utilized in Japan. With that being said, GSM users every where can now breath a sigh of relief.
